MEET THE MAKER
William McCance (1894-1970)
One of the few Scottish artists to embrace cubism and abstraction, William McCance painted richly textured and coloured semi-abstract compositions that skilfully echo the more famous European Cubists including Picasso, Braque and Leger. Something of a connoisseur's painter, his distinctive style deserves to be more widely known.
