In the second part of our interior trends report for Spring 2016, we look northwards to celebrate a style we've championed ever since we opened our doors five years ago. Perhaps it's the increasing popularity of hypnotic Nordic Noir dramas on our TV screens, or the soothing effect of the Scandinavian colour palette. Either way, it's a look that's exceptionally easy to live with - sometimes, less drama has greater impact.
Trend 2: Nordic Modern
There’s something about the light and landscape of Scandinavian countries that inspires designers to create simple, natural designs. Grey-washed wood furniture combines with organic ceramics and sculptural lighting to create a look that’s both timeless yet contemporary. These are the pieces to blend effortlessly with whatever you already have in your home, whether your look is Regency or mid-century modern. Nordic food is set to be big in 2016 too, so there’s never been a better time to jump aboard the Arctic Express.
Get the look:
Tambour Table - £150.
With its grey-washed wood and simple drum shape, this elegant table would be perfect alongside a sofa, armchair or even a bed.
Sol Lamp - £89
Exposed ‘squirrel cage’ light bulbs have been fashionable for a few seasons now, but this cool, clever lamp brings them right up to date. There’s no switch, just touch the base to turn it on, off, or to dim the bulb.
Spot Bowl - £39
With its great colours and strong design, this timeless bowl makes a bold statement wherever it’s used.
Lounge Chair - £295
A typically wooden frame and colourful linen seat make this mid-century-style piece our top pick for the chair of the season.
